**Que The Joy of Painting intro music** Let's start with my 3 Concepts, 2 Frameworks, and 1 Proverb Pic!

3 Growth concepts from others.

Concept #1

One of the greatest skills an entrepreneur can have is the ability to have shameless conviction in the face of criticism and dismissal from those closest to you. - Austin Rief

My Takeaway: I started a marketplace to help worship leaders and pastors find musicians when someone calls out sick on a Sunday morning. This sounds like a terrible idea. So does sleeping in a stranger's house. The founders of Air B&B were told the same thing. Many family and friends told me that this wouldn't work. I was given many scenarios of why it wouldn't work. But I knew it would work because we were already doing it. Pastors would call us and we would send a friend to play drums at their church. All done via texting. All I was doing was automating a few processes with a website. A year after we launched, I would still ask people of what they thought of my idea. It was still bad. But once I told them that we had already sent out 700 people last year to help churches, their jaws dropped. "Oh how wonderful it is you are serving so many churches", they said. If you don't take action on your ideas, all you will get is criticism and dismissal. But you will change people's minds as soon as you build something and make it real.

Concept #2

New rule: make at least $100 in sales before you make a logo or buy a domain name for your project. - Sam Parr

My Takeaway: A wantrepreneurs is someone who says that they want to start a business but never get it off the ground. If you love discussing business ideas but have never started a business, you could be a wantrepreneur. The wantrepreneurs checklist to start a business looks like this: Come up with a name. Design a logo. Build a website. Start social media accounts. Get some business cards. Open up an LLC. Make a business plan and many more things to make it look like you are starting a business. You can do all of these things and still not have a business. Real entrepreneurs help someone solve a problem and get paid for it. That's it. You don't need any of that other stuff to start.

Concept #3

Make failure your teacher, not your undertaker.- Zig Ziglar

My Takeaway: If you are not failing, then you're not trying. If you are afraid of failing, then unfortunately, that is precisely what will make you fail and keep you from success. Success is built on top of a pile of failures, which means trying things that fail to eventually find what does work. You don't know what does work until you try. "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. - Wayne Gretzky - Michael Scott

2 Personal frameworks

1. Start > Plan

Here is the problem with planning. The plan changes as soon as you start. People don't want to start until they have complete information. In reality, this is fear and insecurity preventing you from taking action. The truth is that you will never have complete information until you start. For example, with my marketplace for musicians, I was asked “what will I do when churches try to hire musicians off of the platform.” Valid point. But I waited to see if this problem was an imaginary problem or a real problem. After sending out 700 musicians, this has not happened one single time. These fake problems just slow you down from moving forward. Come up with a plan after you start.

2. ABZ Framework

Here is all you need to start. The ABZ Framework. You don’t need to know steps C, D, or E at the beginning. Focusing on them will cause you to procrastinate instead of taking action. You don’t need to know every step. But what do you need to know? A - represents where you are now. B - represents the next step. Z - represents the ultimate goal. Knowing where you're at, knowing the next step, and knowing your ultimate vision gives you enough clarity to move forward. Once you are at step B, step C becomes clear. Once you are on step C, step D becomes clear. You get the point.

1 Proverb Pic

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10

My Takeaway: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom because it builds in us what is needed for wisdom to grow. Wisdom grows in a person that sees reality as it is. For most of us, our egos prevent us from seeing reality as it is. Pride and arrogance are the weeds that prevent wisdom from growing. It correctly positions us in light of an all-powerful God. When we think about the fear of the Lord, that might make us uncomfortable. It's easier to say God is love. God is both. The more we realize the power of God, the more we are amazed that we get the love of God. We know that he did not use his power to give us what we deserve, but it gave us grace. The fear of God humbles us. We listen more, admit we don't know everything, and the fear kills our ego. The fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom, but the love of the Lord is the end of wisdom.
